Câmara Cascudo, modern discoverer
linhag.gif (1358 bytes)

Câmara Cascudo is an indefatigable searcher of Brazil. He made many of his own personal discoveries, and even more were made possible by his work. The gigantic proportions of his production and the range of different intellectual fields in which he worked, as folklorist, historian, ethnographer, fictionist, columnist, professor, essayist, or as author of memoirs, make him a prolific and versatile writer and multifaceted intellectual.

Without ever leaving his home city of Natal, an incurable provincial as he liked to call himself, Luís da Câmara Cascudo navigated many seas and as much as he is a plural and controversial figure, so the more interesting is he a modern discoverer of Brazil.
